Where have I been?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

It has been a long time since my last post here. You might have begun wondering what happened to me, or my interest in writing.

I spent some time on infrastructure and educating myself in its control. I made some changes here and a complete rebuild of my other website: teddunlap.net.

For a month or so, three Leghorn hens have been giving us almost two eggs a day while the rest of the 19-bird flock slowly grew to sexual maturity.

taking public goods

Monday, October 5th, 2009

just curious about your stance on some things:

do you take advantage of public roadways, built with public funds (local, state and federal)?

do you use the Federal Postal system? At one time, I believe that was federally funded

I know you take advantage of the internet which, I believe, was created in part with federal funds.

do you, or have you, enrolled in Medicare.

do you, or have you, received Social Security benefits, myself, I received “survivor” benefits after my mom died when I was a kid and perhaps I might even get some in the future should the system not imploded.

did you take advantage of any public education? even private education gets some amount of local, state or federal funds, even if it is not being taxed.

The point I am trying to refer to (and no, it isn’t the one on my head), is that nowadays, “no man is an island”. If nothing else, I’ll bet you received the benefit of the defense of this country by its forces and law enforcement as well.

moorings

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I’ve come adrift. Not frightfully so and not such that I’ve lost sight of the shoreline or my old mooring, but my new job has unsettled some things I was confident I knew about myself. It has put question marks at the end of some sentences I had for years confidently punctuated with exclamation points.

Back at it

Just for the record, my round-tuit popped up again.  Here’s to hoping it sticks around.

Coming back around on the guitar

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

After quite a time out, I am back on the web development and internet learning.  Lots of irons in the fire combined with the slow learning that comes with age and busy-ness.

So it begins

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Today, for a moment anyway, I got a grip on my own personal Round Tuit. One great leap for me; one infinitesimal step for mankind.
